Forest School First Aid Training

EarthCraftuk offer a professional tailored two day (16hr) Outdoor First Aid Training (includes elements of Paediatric First Aid) for Forest School Leaders and Outdoor Education professionals.  Covers requirements for: Institute for Outdoor learning Outdoor First Aid Band 3 and Emergency Paediatric First Aid

The training is certificated by the Lifesigns Group  (Health & Safety Executive Approval Number: 128/00 and is valid for 3 years.

Our dedicated trainer Chris Johnson has 30 years of outdoor first aid training experience and a wealth of practical first aid expertise to draw upon - his first aid knowledge is immense and his training is fully relevant to this specialist outdoor field.

Being out of the school classroom and in a woodland environment, often off the beaten track, has it`s own unique issues when it comes to administering First Aid. This professional training equips you to deal with incidents in woodland and countryside settings which are often remote - remote meaning 30 mins or more from safety.

The ECP (Expedition Care Programme) is run outdoors in a woodland Forest School setting in all weathers, to make your training as realistic and relevant as we can for Forest Schools and Outdoor Learning situations. The training course is recognised by all national outdoor governing bodies as well as exceeding the recommendations for an "Emergency First Aid at Work" first aider within a workplace (H & S (First Aid) Regulations 1981).

This intensive 2 day course covers:

  • The Health & Safety Executive including First Aid Kits
  • Priorities of Treatment
  • Primary Assessment
  • Secondary Assessment
  • Resuscitation
  • Obstructed Airway & Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Internal Bleeding
  • Fractures
  • Burns
  • Circulatory Shock
  • Heart Attacks
  • Casualty Evacuation from a remote woodland setting
  • Insects/venomous creatures bites and stings
  • Environmental Injuries - Hypothermia, Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke
  • Expedition Hygiene
  • Emergency Evacuation Policies & Procedures

This is incredibly valuable training for anyone working with children and adults in an outdoor setting. Please note - this training is run outdoors in all weathers making the training far more `real`!
